Adam Sandler And Jim Carrey Up For “Guardians Of The Galaxy” Role?
In a slightly left field move, it’s being reported by Latino Review that Marvel Studios is looking at Adam Sandler and Jim Carrey for a role in their upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy.
Find out more after the break.
Whilst there’s recently been a lot of talk on who’ll be playing the lead role of Peter Quill/Star-Lord, there’s been little talk on the supporting cast. This is apparently where Carrey and Sandler come into things, with the sensible money being on them being lined up to voice the loud, aggressive rodent Rocket Raccoon.
I’m picturing an angry, Happy Gilmore fueled, man-child version of Rocket Raccoon now.
Also, the latest names to be linked with the role of Peter Quill are apparently Wes Bentley, Chris Lowell and Cam Gigandet, joining Michael Rosenbaum, Jim Sturgess and Zachary Levi in the race for Star-Lord. Bentley and Rosenbaum are personal favorites of mine, so I’d be more than happy to see either of them end up in the role.
The character of Peter Quill is likely to be the focal point of the film. Raised on Earth, Quill discovers that his father was actually from outer space, resulting in him being pulled into an intergalactic conflict. This eventually leads to him becoming the leader of the Guardians of the Galaxy, a group that features such characters as Drax the Destroyer, Groot, Gamora and the aforementioned always awesome Rocket Raccoon.
James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy will be released on August 1st, 2014.
