Here’s A Peak Into The New “Madoka ☆ Magica Portable”!
Famitsu has released information about the PSP game, including gameplay details as well as screenshots. Famitsu described the game as having two sections, the Adventure section and the Dungeon section.
The Adventure part consists of the player selecting a character and moving around on a 3D feature map, which may lead to new conversations, events or even unlocking of new dungeons.
It is still unclear who the player would be controlling in the adventure part, though from the above screenshot, I have a sneaky feeling it might be Kyuubei? But that’s purely my own personal speculation from the above screenshot.
The Dungeon part is basically the good-old dungeon crawler system, where you can form your own part of Mahou Shoujo and make your way through the dungeon. Every character would have their unique characteristics and spells, as referenced from the anime. That means Mami-san will be using her guns, Sayaka her sword, Kyoko her spear, etc.
Much more details under the cut!
As you can see from the screenshots, the unique art style of the game still greatly resembles that of the anime, which was a main highlight and reason why the anime stood out initially. So I’m pretty happy that they’re retaining that in the game as well.
The game also features animation scenes from the anime, but Namco Bandai is also throwing in new transformation sequences as well as a new original opening produced by the animation studio, Shaft.
The fully-voiced game will also be based on the anime, however there are also multiple alternate scenarios and endings included, depending on how the player plays the game and the conversation choices he or she chooses. This would of course lead to new stories being told in the game, which was not in the anime itself.
Not to mention Banpresto is in charge of the production and it is famous/infamous for all its playing around of alternate scenarios with canon mecha series in its Super Robot Wars games, it’ll be interesting to see how this game will turn out.
More screenshots can be seen at Famitsu.
Fully-voiced, with alternate scenarios and endings AND new transformation sequences?
Bottom line: Namco Bandai, as long as you keep giving me Kyouko, I’ll keep giving you my money.
