Namco Bandai Confirms “Star Trek” Video Game Is Coming Next April
As if the upcoming Star Trek Into Darkness film wasn’t enough, Star Trek fans now have even more to get excited about. Namco Bandai has confirmed that its Star Trek shooter — titled simply Star Trek — is due next April for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.
Hit the break for details on pre-order bonuses and just how canon the game is.
Star Trek the video game will feature an original story, with co-op opportunities casting players as Kirk and Spock. Though the game is set in the canon, it’s not clear whether that means it will actually be canon or not. The box art makes it clear that it certainly draws from the J.J. Abrams films.
Fans who pre-order will receive a number of extra uniforms for Kirk and Spock, including stealth uniforms, U.S.S. Kelvin uniforms, and Kirk’s leather jacket along with Spock’s Vulcan Science Academy costume. Bonus weapons include a U.S.S. Kelvin Hand Phaser and a Starfleet Type IV Stealth Sniper Rifle.
The game comes out on April 23 in the U.S. and April 26 in the U.K. It sounds like trekkies like me can look forward to a Star Trek-heavy summer next year.
