‘Obstacles’ May Prevent Marc Webb From Returning To “Amazing Spider-Man”
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Columbia Pictures President Doug Belgrad cast doubt over whether or not Marc Webb, the director of recent release and commercially successful, The Amazing Spider-Man would be back in the director’s chair for the sequel.
Hit the break for more details.
When asked whether or not Webb would return for the sequel, Belgrad responded:
“We’d really like him back, but there are obstacles. He has an obligation to Fox.”
This obstacle is likely to be the film which Webb owes Fox, after his last film for the studio, 2009’s (500) Days Of Summer.
Whilst nothing concrete has been announced regarding Webb’s schedule now, there is enough reason to doubt that he’ll be available to helm a sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man, considering Columbia is aiming for a 2014 release date, and considering the success of the film, Fox would probably like the film he owes them sooner rather than later.
