Watch the fog, cause this week we’re traveling to a little ole place known as Silent Hill for the Weekend Remix. While Silent Hill is a series that’s often times praised for its psychological thrills as much as it is for its general creepiness, there’s no way you can mention it without praising its music.

Former series composer Akira Yamaoka produced quite a number of memorable tunes for the series, including Silent Hill 2. Promise Reprise’s lone piano melody always had a moody and mysterious air about it, yet it was also simply beautiful.

This is probably why one may find DJ Yuriy’s Trance remix of the song an unlikely fit before taking the time to listen to it. But, you quickly find that the familiar melody fits better than an arm cannon for a man of rock (or mega).

Yuriy’s remix is truly a great trance song that seems to avoid the traps of amateur techno and musically progress forward rather than stand in place. When the familiar melody slips into the song, it builds a special type of audio suspense.

No, there are no worries of spastic nurses or Pyramid Head, instead the song journeys with different synth paths that work more like steps than a smooth path. Think of it as a trance mountain that keeps listeners climbing and moving throughout the entire song.
