Anime Review: Mobile Suit Gundam AGE - 5

The Diva arrives at the colony Fardain where new surprises await Flit and co.
——

With the Diva arriving at the Fardain colony, it’s time for the series to focus on a few loose ends from the first four episodes. Grodek’s unauthorized takeover of the Diva is addressed and so far, it has been averted due to more underhanded tactics. We’re given a little more insight into his character and given more hints into his motivation for fighting the UE. Though not outwardly displaying evil traits, he does appear to be a man of Machiavellian characteristics and it’ll be interesting to see where that goes down the line.

We’re also introduced to yet another mysterious child in Desil Galette. Immediately, we’re seen that he has the same mysterious power that Yurin has, as one can assume that there’s a connection between the two. We’re also shown that Desil isn’t all that he appears to be as he steals and easily pilots the Gundam to take down two UE mobile suits as Woolf and Flit only watch. As for Desil himself, he comes off as the typical mischievous child and comes off as a rather uninspired character to me.

The episode ends off with Desil being found by a secret organization — which features this Gundam’s masked man. There are a ton of questions left unanswered with their appearance leaving the episode on yet another cliffhanger, which didn’t work so well in my opinion. The black robed figures looked silly, especially when they’re in a public area but Desil’s abilities and origins still left me pretty interested in seeing where the series will go. Also of note is Emily dealing with the her fears of Flit remaining aboard the Diva to pilot the Gundam; that should be fully addressed next episode.
GO Rating: 3/5
