Guys, it’s just a copier.  It’s not rocket science.

This week’s episode was basically one big preview for the upcoming cultural festival episode.  It moved a bit slower than the previous few episodes have, but it was still good nonetheless.  Predictably, Chizuru and Yuki spend the entire episode avoiding their duties, going as far as to drag Shun and Yuta away from their class to play around.  I’m pretty sure every group has someone like Chizuru and Yuki who will do absolutely anything to get out of doing what they’re supposed to do.  Usually I find their antics amusing, but in this episode, I kind of wanted to smack both of them upside the head for bothering everyone so much.

It’s endearing how off the wall they usually are, but I have precious little patience for people who can’t calm down and do what they’re supposed to, especially when one of their friends is running themselves ragged to try and make everything run smoothly.  Shun and Yuta don’t really do much to discourage them either, so I found myself frustrated with the four of them for most of the episode.

This is largely due to the fact that I am very sympathetic to Kaname’s plight in this episode.  I’m the one who’s always in charge of things, and when people don’t do what I need them to do, I just take on all their tasks myself.  If you want something done right, do it yourself, after all.  But just like Kaname, I have people that I’m in charge of who I can’t get to just shut up for five seconds and listen to me, and it’s really hard when they’re people you’re friends with.

Kaname is so stressed out that he starts forgetting what he’s supposed to do, and has people trying to pull him in five different directions.  It’s incredibly stressful and I think if Kaname were a more emotionally fragile character he’d have a complete breakdown.  But luckily, Azama-sensei comes to his rescue like I’ve had adults rescue me, and Yuki and Chizuru seem to realize that maybe they should stop shoving all their responsibilities off on their bespectacled friend.

There was less humor in this episode than weeks prior, and it was reminiscent of the dry spell at the beginning of the season.  I got a few chuckles, but nothing like the grinning and giggling I’ve been getting used to.  I’m hoping that this means we’re going to get something totally over the top for the cultural festival, and with Shun and Yuta’s class doing a crossdressing cafe, I think we can almost count on it.
