Every time I think the next episode of Panty and Stocking won’t be as hilarious and over the top as last weeks, I am gladly proven wrong. I’d also like to point out that this is going to be a smaller review then the others due to time restraints that have occurred in my life right now, which I doubt you care about and I’m too lazy to explain. Time to review though!

“The Diet Syndrome”

The first half of this episode is composed of the oh so American fear of gaining weight and becoming a hideous fat obesity monster. Our much adorable gothic loli, Stocking, finally reaches the point of gaining weight from her sweet addiction and oh is it wondrous. Stocking is probably the only 2-D girl who I still think looks adorable even though shes a bit on the large side. There’s actually tons of Stocking fan service in this episode, which all I have to say is “It’s about damn time!” Either way, Stocking gaining a few pounds leads us into an awesome Rocky montage as Stocking struggles to lose them pounds.

It was also very funny to see that Peek-A-Boo bit when Panty teases Stocking about her being on a diet after her just saying she didn’t need to diet just a few days ago. Those big humongous eyes also add to the “AWWWWWWWWW” and “LOL” factor.

As always though, there has to be a realistic limit to how much you weight you plan on losing. This seems to be a problem for Stocking as she seems to have pushed herself to the status of being anorexic. Stocking loses all her cuteness when she looks like a 60 pound pregnant women.

I think I’ll have nightmares of this episode someday in my life. It was also one of the first times we’ve actually seen Stocking lose her cool and go ape shit rampage crazy. Her beating the crap out of Chuck also proves she really does love her sweets. Stocking freaking about her weight that much was surprising but..well, I guess that’s a very young woman now and days for you. This episode’s demon puts a new level of “eww” in the disgusting factor.

I don’t know about you, but a gigantic boob monster doesn’t really make me think of hot, especially when this monster’s shooting out whip cream from her nipples onto the cakes causing everyone- including Stocking- to get fat. Disgusting as it was, it was worth watching fat Stocking fail attack with her outstretched stocking.

I also forgot to mention the spirit grows more boobs besides the two on her chest…and eyes. Yuck. Luckily though, Panty comes through and blows the fat lard monster a new one, turning everyone back to normal and our Stocking back to her regular gothic loli moe self. Look at that above screen cap! How can you not like her?!

“High School Nudical”

Now, I’m not sure what exactly happened here. Although the episode title highlight is supposed to be an obvious parody of Disney’s HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL movie series, the episode doesn’t much parody anything about that movie. What the episode really does mimic is another movie, one with we might be more familiar with (and doesn’t suck..as much) - American Pie: The Naked Mile. Now if you ask me, Panty and Stocking perfectly fits the standard’s to copy a movie like that.

The 2nd half of the episode starts us off with our heroines polishing and maintaining their weapons in shape. Panty complains about being bored while giving her handgun a hand job (Yeah, Seriously). Panty then receives a text on her phone about an awesome lingerie party, THUS the plot begins!

Sometimes I wish the anime rules would apply to real life. I would love to be able to arrive at a party and have everyone instantaneously recognize me, form a party line for me to walk through, and watch me walk through it while shouting my name. I would also like to be able to high five random girls boobs at anytime. I sometimes don’t honestly know how exactly Panty’s and Stocking’s world allows them to do all these, but it does, and it makes for some hilarious, yet random moments. Oh, and Brief’s at the party too.

Oh and in case anyone is wondering, Master G is Garterbelt, who by now everyone should know is one of those perverted priests who likes to touch little boys that have plagued the TV news shows. Master G set up the entire lingerie party for his pleasure. Tons of shirtless men? In their underwear? Master G likes.

So everyone decides to run across town in only their lingerie and underwear under Master G’s lies of “showing school spirit”, which is looking very familiar to a certain movies plot, which I stated on top. Everything seems to be going smoothly until people start losing their lingerie and underwear. It’s an evil underwear spirit that’s been taking them away and applying them to power up! He then steals Panty’s panties and applies them for a big power boost. We also get what looks like a nipple slip from Panty, which honestly, isn’t that great because of the art direction this anime took. Too bad they weren’t in their Angel Stripper animation form, THEN it would have been something more interesting to see. Also, I don’t know how Panty sleeps with so many men when she has no female reproductive system. Is she good with her hands?

Panty and Stocking go around following the spirit. Panty who is lacking her panties, starts taking all the males underwear and using them as weapons. Note To Self: The bigger the gun my underwear turns into, the bigger my penis size. I imagine I’ll remember this scene till I die. Panty turning everyone’s underwear to guns and complaining about the “size” of the gun was hilarious. With all her options gone, she resorts to her final chance: Brief’s undies! What can you say? It seems the quite ones are the ones that are..errhhmm..Loaded.

With a blast from Panty’s new shotgun, courtesy of Brief’s undies, she blasts that evil spirit away! With the end of the party, Master G encourages everyone to walk around in their underwear, while later on getting arrested. Ah, Panty and Stocking when will you ever learn to be normal? But…we wouldn’t have you any other way.

Final Impressions:
Episode was great. I loved Fat Stocking and I loved the crude humor. Stocking fan service was off the roof and I loved every minute of it. Can you call me a chubby chaser now? Not likely but every time I see a woman big for her size, I will always think of Stocking. The 2nd half, while a bit more boring was also funny. Panty having no vagina and Brief’s penis size were great laughs and honestly made for a great way to end the second half. The only thing that gets a bit annoying is how simple the plots or stories kick off, but this is a lighthearted show with random events, so it’s not that hard to let it slip. 4.0 rating, while not perfect Panty and Stocking with Gartebelt keep’s delivering new and fresh feeling episodes every week.
