- Megamind - $16.175 m = $109,476,000 17 day total

- The Next Three Days - $6.75 m (opening weekend)
This weekend saw the monster opening of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1. The first part of the epic finale to the film franchise took in an estimated $125,120,000 dollars, the second highest opening of the year (the highest opening of the year belongs to Iron Man 2 at $128,122,480). Finishing in a distant second was DreamWork’s Megamind which took in an estimated $16,175,000 dollars over the weekend in its third weekend of release. At #3 is the Tony Scott film, Unstoppable, which took in a respectable $13,100,000 dollars for a 10 day total of $41,962,000. The film looks like it’ll have to rely on its international release to make up its $100 million dollar budget. In fourth was the Todd Phillips directed road comedy, Due Date. The comedy starring Robert Downey Jr. and Zack Galifianakis only took in $9,150,000 dollars in its third week of release and though has made back its budget, will not even come close to the success that The Hangover had. Finally rounding out the top 5 is the Paul Haggis action thriller, The Next Three Days. The film took in a very disappointing $6,750,000 dollars in its opening weekend against some very tough competition.
And here’s how the rest of the weekend’s top 10 played out:
6. Morning Glory - $5.233 m = $19,856,000 12 day total
7. Skyline - $3.431 m = $17,643,000 10 day total
8. RED - $2.467 m = $83,574,000 38 day total
9. For Colored Girls - $2.4 m = $34,540,000 17 day total
10. Fair Game - $1.47 m = $3,739,000 17 day total
For a few words on next week’s releases as well as a short personal ranking of the Harry Potter films, hit the jump.

In anticipation for the holiday weekend in the States, each of next week’s four major wide releases will be released early on Wednesday, November 24th. Next week’s releases include:
- Tangled - The updated take on the classic fairy tale of Rapunzel
- Burlesque - The musical that sees the team up of Cher and Christina Aguilera
- Love and Other Drugs - The Dramedy starring Jake Gyllenhal and Anne Hathaway
- Faster - The return of Dwayne Johnson to the action genre.

The biggest release of next week is Tangled, which will be released in over 3500 theatres across the nation, so look for it to finish at #2 to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1 next weekend. The next biggest release is Burlesque which will be released at over 2800+ theatres across the U.S. And finally Faster and Lover and Other Drugs will each be released at over 2300 theatres a piece.

Look for next weekend’s top 10 to look something like this:
- Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1
- Tangled
- Burlesque
- Faster
- Lover and Other Drugs
- Megamind
- Unstoppable
- Due Date
