The three-week break is over and Kubo delivered epic action on par with what one would expect of a final arc!

Soul Society served as the starting point for this arc. From the discussion with Akon in an area that keeps track of the number of hollows destoryed in various points, it seemed that the hollows had been on the rise and times were becoming grave. However, some unknown force was wiping them out of existence completely? Who could it be? Perhaps it was the Quincies, the group associated with Uryu? Though that wouldnt make sense if he and his father were the last remaining ones. Perhaps the coveted Vasto Lordes? Espada? In my opinion, I think (and hope) it’s an entire new entity.

Unlike previous arcs, Kubo decided to have the story take place in Karakura Town, away from the school grounds. Instead of encountering Ichigo’s crew in school activities, we instead focused on random new-named fodder characters. Ultimately, they would reign over Karakura Town to take down hollows in an effort to alleviate the burden from Ichigo. Unfortunately, this plan wasn’t sound, as in some sense, some perpretrator summoned hollows that were far to strong for the characters, essentially appearing to kill one of them and leave the other in fear.

Ichigo made a stunning entrance to save the day. 

With a brief glimpse of action, a figure hidden in the shadows, and some sense of an enemy force, the arc is off to a great start. This chapter was compelling for including all of those as well as giving us a glimpse of our favorite character who managed to retain his powers of the previous arc. Where is this arc leading us and how will it involve Soul Society, Ichigo, and these new folks? Are these new characters worthy of being named or simply fodder? Who knows, but folks, I’m excited for the next chapter.
