The Weekly Pull List: 02/22/12

Hello and welcome to yet another edition of everyone’s favorite Weekly Pull List!
Once again I am joined by my fellow comics contributor, the always charming Ryley (ryley-stbatman), as we detail the comics which we’ll be picking up this week.
So lets get started…
——
AMERICAN VAMPIRE #24

Ryley: The current arc continues as our villain stood revealed in the last issue as our old friend, Skinner Sweet. But just how is he still alive, and what’s he doing now that we’re in the 50’s? Whatever happens it’s sure to be a violently fun ride from Mr. Scott Snyder.
——
AQUAMAN #6

Ryley: A new story starts here as we learn who sunk Atlantis, and it seems as if focus is turning to Aquaman’s wife, Mera. What connections does she have to this event, and how does this connect to the upcoming story lines that are being teased for this great series?
Sam: After last issue being not as much of a random little tale as expected, things are looking pretty darn interesting right now. This issue promises to shine the spotlight on Mera, revealing more details about her past – and will undoubtedly tie into the big storyline which Johns seems to have planned. Don’t miss out.
——
CHEW #24

Ryley: Ever since Tony Chu lost his job things have really not been looking up for anyone, including himself. Now as we head into the final parts of “Major League Chew” we’ll get a new meaning to the phrase “Death by Chocolate”, according to this issues solicitation. Well that can’t be good…
——
FANTASTIC FOUR #603

Ryley: “Forever” continues, and it’s not looking very good for anyone, really. Galactus is back and he’s ready to duke it out with the Celestials. Meanwhile the Future Foundation is making a return to the pages of Fantastic Four!
Sam: Galactus is in town is promised, just in time for a cheeky visit from the Celestials. Really, do I have to tell you this is about to get even more friggin’ awesome? Hickman’s awe-inspiring Fantastic Four story continues here, and you really, really do not want to miss it.
——
THE FLASH #6

Ryley: In the last issue many of The Flash’s old Rogues stood revealed for the first time in the DCnU, and this time we’re going to see Barry go head to head with Captain Cold before he has to go back into the past to solve a murder mystery, and it’ll all tie into the revelation about the Speed Force that we got last issue.
Sam: If you haven’t been following this series, then this appears to be a great opportunity to get on board. This issue looks set to be a really good one story, which focuses on Barry trying to solve a murder which dates back 150 years or so – something which is probably linked to the big reveal about Barry’s usage of the Speed Force last issue.
Oh, and Captain Cold may feature in some form – which is always delightful. Anyway, this should be a nice little issue, with some amazing artwork (of course), which also looks a bit more into Barry’s everyday life as a Police forensic scientist.
——
GREEN LANTERN: NEW GUARDIANS #6

Sam: Last issue saw the Skittle Squad go and explore the strange new ship/solar system which was on a crash course for Oa. The natives didn’t seem too impressed with the sight of Glomulus, with Larfleeze presumably having somewhat annoyed them all. And now Invictus, the sleeper from the sun has emerged. And he presumably is even more peeved. Things don’t look good…
——
I, VAMPIRE #6

Ryley: Batman and Andrew are about to go up against Mary, Queen of Blood and her army of vampires. It’s going to be a pretty bloody battle and I can’t say any more how much people should definitely be reading this series.
——
JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK #6

Ryley: The team deals with some aftermath after their first mission as we lead into the next storyline which crosses over with I, Vampire. What will become of the team before we move forward? Guess you’ll have to read to find out!
Sam: This looks like being another one of those lovely little aftermath issues, which will probably see the team finally form, after having decided to go their separate ways. Not much more to say here, other than once again – the artwork will probably be fantastic.
——
MAGNETO: NOT A HERO #4

Sam: The final issue of this fun little mini-series, and promises to serve up what we’ve all been waiting for – Magneto vs. Joseph. Should be a nice little slog-fest between the two, as Magneto seeks to clear his name which Joseph has somewhat tarnished after having framed him for murdering anti-mutant protesters. Overall this has been a decent mini-series so far, and I’m looking forward to reading this issue.
——
SECRET AVENGERS #23

Ryley: After the Secret Avengers started their new mission (and the book started it’s new direction) in the last issue, this issue we see the inclusion of a new member; Flash Thompson. This is surely an aftereffect of the “Circle of Four” arc happening in Venom at the moment, but in the meantime we can just enjoy the inclusion of an awesome character into an awesome book. Check out the previous issue on the book to see Rick Remender work his magic on yet another Marvel title!
——
SUPERMAN #6

Sam: The three mysterious aliens have launched their plan – having seemingly neutralized and replaced Superman. Metropolis is now under their harsher form of protection, and it looks like Supergirl is going to find that out the hard way! The end of Perez’s storyline is here, and it looks like it’ll be an interesting one…
——
UNCANNY X-FORCE #22

Ryley: The trial of Fantomex continues… and there are dragons! Fantomex is incapacitated and Psylock is attempting to rescue him from the deleted by the Captain Britain Corps. Meanwhile the rest of the X-Force has enough to deal with as they’re stuck in the middle of a war in the Otherworld!
——
VENOM #13.3

Ryley: Part four of “Circle of Four” has Jeff Parker stopping in to write an issue of the book with focus on the Red Hulk. How will Hulk, Ghost Rider, X-23, and Venom stop Hell from spreading across the earth and how will they defeat their own Antitheses?
——
WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN #6

Ryley: Kitty Pryde’s been infected by a miniature Brood swarm and Wolverine isn’t there to help her! Why? Because Intergalactic Gambling is apparently the best way to pay for the costs to run the Jean Grey School! This series has been more than great since it’s debut and there’s never a bad time to jump on, so read it now!
Sam: Words do not do justice to how insanely fun this series has been since its debut. With everything being somewhat chaotic at the school (when is it not?), it looks like Wolverine’s X-Men are about to have some interesting visitors. Shame he won’t be there however, since he’s gone to an intergalactic casino with Quire in an attempt to gain the funds to keep the school running.
Seriously, how much more awesome can this comic get? If you are thinking of picking this up, last issue is probably the better place to start – but just make sure you do read this comic!

And that’s a wrap for this week, folks!
As ever, we hope you enjoyed it, and if you have any questions or comments, then feel free to post in the comments section below.
