Ridley Scott Reveals Connection Between “Prometheus” and “Alien”

[via]
Well it’s not much of a spoiler, but if you want to avoid any news possible on Prometheus then kindly ignore this.
If not, check out the short bit of Scott’s interview after the break!
——
The connection between the two films is through Guy Pearce’s character. Below is how Scott explains the connection between the two films:
“When the first Alien movie and Blade Runner were made, I thought that in the near future the world will be owned by large companies. This is why we have the Tyrell Corporation in Blade Runner, and Weyland-Yutani in Alien. They sent the Nostromo spaceship.
The Prometheus is owned by an entrepreneur called Peter Weyland, and is played by Guy Pearce. That’s the connection between the two films, and nothing more. Prometheus is a new film, a new world, and is full of new ideas. And of course new monsters as well.”
So with that out of the way, though this does take place in the same universe, Scott is fully intending for this film to go its own way from Alien. In a way it is still a prequel, but beyond that tiny connection this is set to be more of an original film.
Prometheus is set to be released June 8th.
