For a series nearing its end, it sure does a marvelous job at clustering all the WTF reactions all in a single episode this late. It’s just a knee-jerk reaction but what kind of rushed development is this? Now I know for sure that Gai is just a troll taken to the next level. “I’m not the one you used to know” and then Ayase goes into helpless mode again. Then follows a Void fusion that only has a single use before shattering (goodbye Nanba, at least you didn’t die a virgin) and comes an organization of pawns by his side. Can I give up? Unfortunately, I can’t because for some reason, Shuu elects to live in a desolate world.
The best part is that Inori finally gets some screen time. I think she was begging for some kind of attention because last I checked, she’s the female lead. Sorry to say, it’s not Hare or Ayase or even the top prospect in Tsugumi. (And sorry, I still can’t take this Tsugumi x Daryl thing seriously because that’s the most random pairing I expected for this series. Or I just really hate Daryl too.) I’m trying to grasp the Inori/Mana shuffling but it’s pretty clear to me that Inori fears killing Shuu because she’s a monster. The sentimental flashback and encouraging words are nice but they feel out of place given his armless fate. But hey, for a monster, Inori’s still pretty cute. I just wished that kind of development occurred a long time ago and not worry so much about Arisa and her samurai grandfather.
I’m going to say it now: four episodes is not going to be enough to satisfy me with a good end. Four episodes won’t be enough to explain everything. Whatever Production I.G. has planned out, it better be epic beyond words because I’m going to say that GC reached a high water mark a few episodes ago with Hare’s death. I don’t even see Gai as a villain because he’s just so soulless, and boring. And whatever happens to Shuu’s right arm, I pray that the boy does something miraculous and live a happy life with Inori/Mana in an empty nation.
