New Companion For “Doctor Who”

Karen Gillan announced recently that she will be retiring the character of Amelia Pond. Which begs the question: Who’s going to be taking her place as the Doctor’s companion?
Find out after the break!

It was announced earlier today that in light of Karen Gillan leaving the show, Jenna-Louise Coleman will be taking over for her as the Doctor’s companion in the latter half of the seventh season (or series for you purists). The official Doctor Who Twitter confirmed it and even tweeted about her audition process, saying her pace was faster than front man Matt Smith—and that’s saying something.
Executive Producer Steve Moffat also teased that Amy and Rory will have a run-in with the Weeping Angels and added, “Not everyone gets out alive and I mean it this time.”
Ms. Gillan will continue with the Doctor for the first five or six episodes of this season, with Coleman’s character making her debut during this year’s Christmas special. Ms. Coleman will then finish out the seventh season’s (series’) remaining eight episodes next year.
No news of what exactly the show plans to do to celebrate the 50th anniversary, but news on the new companion is worth hearing about.
