After 18 days, 4 rounds and the elimination of 30 characters, we’re finally down to 1 Geek character and 1 Otaku character!
Our Championship match brings together two entirely different characters from entirely different mediums with entirely different backgrounds and personalities. One is your cookie cutter savior of the world, the other is…well, the other is a little more complicated than that. But one thing’s for sure: Both deserve to be a Champion.
While Vriska Serket had to hold off Wheatley by the skin of her teeth in the Final 4, she pretty much dominated M’aiq The Liar, Harry Potter and Catherine in earlier rounds. Link on the other hand vanquished all comers — Shuto Katsuragi, Yuu Narukami and Wild Tiger — on his path to the Championship round with relative ease, which concluded with a magical Final 4 victory over Kyoko Sakura. Link certainly has the pedigree and longer-standing fan base that could lead him to the top. And based off previous results, he’s probably the favorite in this fight. But if there’s one person who can best the hero, it’s Vriska, the gaming killer. Out of 7 video game characters in the Geek bracket, she defeated 3 of them. Can she beat the cream of gaming’s crop?

Vriska Serket (Homestuck)
She has the luck……..ALL of it.
Vrisksa is many things: a huge bitch, a liar, a backstabber, a manipulator and a murderer. Yet despite all of these faults, she is still a sympathetic character. Whether adopting the persona of her ancestor, Marquise Spinneret Mindfang, or attaining God Tier through truly unscrupulous methods, Vriska maintains an overly competitive personality that hides an interior of insecurities, loneliness and jealousy.
I’m sure a majority of readers hated her from the onset (I know I did), but as her story progressed, we all learned to look past her numerous faults to see a multi-layered character with a strong desire to be accepted.
Anyone who develops a crush on Nic Cage deserves at least that. :::;P -spawnyreborn
Link (Skyward Sword)
Link is truly a man of few words. In the case of the quintessential Hyrulian savior, his actions have always spoken louder. For well over 25 years, Link has labored time and again: collecting big keys, embarking on numerous seek and find quests for hapless villagers, striving headlong into cavernous dungeons and dispatched god knows how many bosses not just for the sake of Hyrule, but for his eternal love interest, Zelda. Always on the front line of the battle between Good and Evil, with his array of bombs, arrows, hookshots, boomerangs, Link wages a solo mission against would-be despots and maniacal sociopaths.
Choose Link not because of what he has accomplished in his storied career, but for what you, the gamer, will allow him to in the future. For as long as you don’t give up the quest, neither will he. -spawnyreborn
