“RoboCop” Remake May Be Adding Some Pedigree To Its Cast
The remake/reboot of RoboCop has been bounced from director to director over, what seems like, the last decade, but after recently locking down Elite Squad 1 & 2 director Jose Padilha & The Killing star Joel Kinnaman, it looks as though they’re trying to fill out the cast with some pretty great actors, namely Sean Penn, Edward Norton, Rebecca Hall & Gael Garcia Bernal.

According to BloodyDisgusting.com, Norton would play the scientist behind the RoboCop program, Penn would be playing a highly political right wing reporter, & Hall would play RoboCop’s widow who hooks up with his former partner, Bernal.
I’m no huge fan of the original film series, apart from owning the original on DVD in the out-of-print Criterion edition (which features a hilariously grandiose commentary by Paul Verhoeven), so I have no vested interest in this redux. I figure that if Darren Aronofsky was attached to direct at one point in time, it must be worth a look. Adding a supporting cast like this would certainly help make the decision for me of whether or not to see it.
