Hello there, and welcome to the latest edition of the Weekly Pull List!
Once again, I am delighted to be joined by Chris (littleyellowboxes) and Ryley (ryley-stbatman), as we highlight our individual top five picks for this week’s releases.
The good stuff is below the cut.

CHRIS’S PICKS

ANGEL & FAITH #9
Faith is in the clutches of Drusilla, who is using her new pet demon to erase the horrible feelings that Faith’s father brings out. Unfortunately, the process tends to drive people a bit insane. It’s up to Angel to save the day, and Drusilla won’t be pleased.

AQUAMAN #8
“The Others” continues as Mera demands answers about Arthur’s original team, and Black Manta closes in on the other members of it. Plus, what does Doctor Stephen Shin have to add to all this madness? I wasn’t sure about this arc, but having read the first issue, I’m looking forward to this.

I, VAMPIRE #8 and JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK #8
“Rise of the Vampires” Parts 3 and 4! The Justice League Dark and Andrew Bennett’s friends find themselves allied with Mary, Queen of Blood, as they take the battle to Cain, the first vampire! And in limbo, Constantine and Deadman must track down the soul of Andrew Bennett, or all hope is lost.

X-MEN LEGACY #265
As if one human bomb was bad enough, now Rogue’s team have three! With both Gambit and herself supercharged, as well as Weapon Omega, it’s going to take a lot of teamwork and some super quick thinking in order to rectify their mistake before the Jean Grey School goes up in smoke!

RYLEY’S PICKS

AMERICAN VAMPIRE #26
Scott Snyder’s one of the biggest names in comics right now due to the critical and commercial success of his Batman and Swamp Thing series’, but his longest running book is American Vampire, the Vertigo series that really launched his comic career. This issue marks a great jumping on point for fans that want to read this series as we get a two issue story focusing on a character from a past arc. If you’re a fan of Snyder, vampires, horror, the 50’s in America, or just plain good comics then check out this series.

DAREDEVIL #11
“Omega Effect” ends, and it’s sure to be another great issue! So far the crossover has been really well done, and I can’t wait to see how it concludes because it’s certainly going to mean something for the future of Mark Waid’s acclaimed Daredevil run.

I, VAMPIRE #8
This issue, along with Justice League Dark #8, marks the end of the “Rise of the Vampires” crossover that started last month. As well as being one of the best series from DC right now, it’s also noteworthy because this will be ushering in a new era for both I, Vampire and JLD as next month Jeff Lemire will take over the latter from Peter Milligan. I implore everyone to check out both of these series next month, and if you can, pick up all the issues for this crossover. It’s been really awesome thus far.

MOON KNIGHT #12
Bendis and Maleev bring their Moon Knight series to an end! It’s been a fantastic run, even if it was a bit short, but it’s not one I’ll be forgetting any time soon. Now I have to wonder where the ending of this series will take us, if it has anything to do with the teased “Ultron War” that’s upcoming, and where Marc Spector will end up next.

SECRET AVENGERS #26
I’ve been loving Remender’s run on Secret Avengers thus far, and this issue, which begins the Avengers VS X-Men tie-in, is sure to continue that greatness. While I’m not completely mowed over by what’s been happening in the main event, I love the idea of this tie-in, which has a team of Avengers assembled to head into space where they’ll deal with the Phoenix head-on. It’s sure to be some crazy, action-packed sci-fi, and I’m sure I’ll love it.
RYLEY IS ALSO PICKING UP…
- AQUAMAN #8
- CAPTAIN AMERICA #10
- THE FLASH #8
- JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK #8
- SPACEMAN #6
- UNCANNY X-MEN #11

SAM’S PICKS

AQUAMAN #8
Aquaman has been exceptional since the New 52 relaunch, and I expect this issue to deliver even more awesomeness. Johns likes to explore ‘secret histories’ of characters, and this is Aquaman’s, as we discover that before he was a member of the Justice League, he was part of another team, who were all armed with mysterious ancient weapons, like Aquaman’s trident. Suffice to say, I’m really looking forward to this issue, and more lovely Reis pencils.

FF #17
With Johnny’s return from the Negative Zone, he needs somewhere to stay. And that somewhere is Spider-Man’s apartment. Whilst the probably won’t contain anything too significant, it looks like it will just be a fun little comic, with Johnny’s presumably winding up Spidey – especially since he basically invited himself to move into his apartment…

THE FLASH #8
With people seemingly lost in time after Barry pushed himself too far in his battle with Captain Cold, the scarlet speedster has sent himself into the Speed Force in an attempt to save these people. The only problem is that Turbine is the prisoner of the Speed Force, and is pretty intent on escaping – by trading places with Barry. Check out this issue for more Flash awesomness and wonderful artwork!

GREEN LANTERN: NEW GUARDIANS #8
The events of Green Lantern have seen Sinestro effectively depower his corps, after he discovered they enslaved him homeworld in his absence. This betrayal is hardly the news Arkillo wants to hear, especially since his ring is low of power! I imagine that brutal times await in this issue. Oh, and then there is also the small matter of Larfleeze to deal with…

THE NEW DEADWARDIANS #2
The second part of the new mini-series by Abnett and Culbard, this comic explores the adventures of the last homicide detective in London. With the majority of the population either Vampires or Zombies, Detective Suttle doesn’t usually have much to do – but that’s about to change, as someone has managed to kill a vampire! With an wonderful little world created last issue before setting up an intriguing mystery, this promises to be a great little series.
SAM IS ALSO PICKING UP…
- CAPTAIN AMERICA #10
- DAREDEVIL #11
- SUPERMAN #8
- UNCANNY X-MEN #11
