Manga Review: Bleach - 489

The lieutenants are back in action!
——
One of the initial events of the arc was finally investigated by Kira, whom we hadn’t seen in a long time. It was interesting that something so minor could spark such conversation from him and ultimately lead to some accusation against Mayuri. Essentially, he reasoned, due to the victims in the outer district being poor and unable to afford proper footwear that they ought to have left barefoot prints; however, footprints that remained were those of sandals, meaning it was shinigami. Would Kira bring this accusation up to the head captains?

Meanwhile, Ichigo challenging Kirge in Hueco Mundo left questions in the Vandendreich’s leaders mind, signalling for the Vandendreich to launch their assault on Soul Society. What was unclear, however, was that it seemed as if this meant that they were starting their assault on Soul Society much earlier than anticipated. Is Kubo really trying to increase the pace of this final arc that fast?

Concluding chapter events in Soul Society revealed that the Shinigami had, in fact, been the ones to kill those poor citizens. Unfortunately, the parties involved seemed to show no remorse saying it was a necessity, however, when confronted about it and with the revelation that it could have been avoided 1000 years ago, Captain Commander Yamamoto looked stricken.

The chapter was quite revealing, though it lacked action. I would have liked to have seen some fighting instead of world-building, but it was interesting. Overall, it was good.
