Manga Review: Kaichou wa Maid-sama - 70

Misaki finally gets to address her daddy issues.
——
We finally get to take a break from the numerous introductions involved in Usui switching schools and focus on some character development. This chapter returns to the oldest unresolved issue in the manga, Misaki’s father leaving her family. I was really excited to see how this would play out because the whole foundation of the series is that Misaki has to work in the maid cafe because her father left her family in debt. The whole situation was handled with class and and very little unnecessary drama, which I appreciated quite a bit.

I was really pleased with the emotional reactions of each character. I was going to be pretty mad if Misaki forgave her father quickly because she isn’t the type to let go of grudges. Misaki’s mom and Suzuna were also less than forgiving which was a real comfort considering that Sakuya left their family for so long.

This chapter was really entertaining overall and contained a lot of action that moved the plot forward. I’m looking forward to how Sakuya will be incorporated into the story from now on and to seeing whether he will be able to move back into the house. I am also loving the hints that Hinata and Suzuna are getting closer because I want Hinata to move on from Misaki after all this time.
GO Rating: 4/5
