There Can Be Only One… Thousand Sequels, Apparently

[via]

Variety is reporting that Ryan Reynolds is in talks to star as Connor MacCleod in Juan Carlos Fresnadillo’s reboot of Highlander.

——

Fresnadillo isn’t a household name in the US yet, but anyone who saw his film Timecrimes knows that he’s a guy with talent to spare. The film is set up at Lionsgate and the script was written by Matt Holloway & Art Marcum who penned the first Iron Man & also wrote that “Whatever They’re Called Now” Ninja Turtles reboot coming soon.

Reynolds’ work in Blade Trinity & Wolverine certainly showed he’s handy with a sword, and this is a role that will require him to buckle a swash or two, but how many more franchises are they going to build around this guy? Have any of them carried on? I don’t dislike Reynolds, but they can’t just keep throwing the guy into dozens of iconic roles in hopes that something will stick.

What do you guys think? Who would you like to see play Kurgan & Ramirez?
