Manga Review: Bleach - 492

Allon arrives!
——
Tres Bestia unleashed Allon who seemed to provide the much needed power boost that the protagonists needed to defeat Kirge Opie. It seemed unnecessary as Ichigo was powerful enough on his own to stand against Kirge. Why would a third party need to step into the fight with this creature who, if we all remember, was eliminated with no sweat from Captain Commander Yamamoto in Fake Karakura Town?

Meanwhile in Soul Society, a new character who looked shockingly like a younger Aizen-sama named Kajoumaru Hidetomo appeared. This part of the chapter was perhaps the worst. It felt contrary to what Bleach is. There was literally no action and pages and pages of text-heavy recap of Quincies and Shinigami keeping balance of Souls. Kubo ought to have focused on the events in Hueco Mundo instead. However, the best part of this was extensive panel time with Hidetomo.

Allon destroyed Kirge…or so we thought. As expected, Allon wasn’t strong enough to destroy Kirge. Kirge retaliated and destroyed both him and struck one of the members of Tres Bestia.
With the situation back to what it ought to have been, Ichigo vs. Kirge, my faith has been restored in the arc. This fight seems to be the formal introduction to the true power of the Vandenreich. What needs to be seen are the skills Ichigo gained since the last arc and how he can defeat this foe.
