I… How… Why does Yuuko have cotton candy? Can she eat things? Where does it go? I’m so confused; my poor brain can’t handle it.
Another one-off episode, albiet much spookier than anything else we’ve seen before. It looks like there are attempts to tie the episodes together under some umbrella plot, but I’m not seeing it just yet. Something about another, more malicious spirit is obvious. But where that fact is going and seeing as how it’s yet to do anything doesn’t do much to arouse my curiosity. It’s just kind of an afterthought at this point and I say we keep it that way. We’re midway through the season right now, and having any huge shift in tone or direction would really throw a wrench into the pacing of the show. Keeping these episodic escapades is probably the way to go for now and if it ends on a huge earth-shattering climatic note, then Tasogare has done its job well.
Yuuko can’t seem to shake off the rumors about her, it seems. But I guess that’s what happens when you’re dead and “haunt” your old stomping grounds. AND it’s hurting living Yuukos! The world can be a cruel cruel place, my friends. It was pretty strange to have the Paranormal Mystery Club people interacting outside of the group, though. It pulls in a bunch of other possible story lines, and this one was a pretty cool one to potentially start out with. Especially with having a super paranoid student body. There is not a single person in this episode who was thinking like a normal human being. I personally believe that the entire school is written to be slightly retarded because what the hell, man? All the extra students were just so stupid, it kept me from really enjoying the episode. Dumb mob mentality ruining my anime.
I did enjoy having a complete episode with a fairly nice resolution at the end. I did not enjoy the mechanisms in order to get there, namely the incredibly stupid students, but it was still good, I guess. I don’t know if I want to see more of them, but I’ll allow it this time (like I have a choice).
