Okay, you’re all probably Mads at my pun, but seriously, Thor 2 is reportedly getting another villain alongside god of mischief Loki.
The actor up for the new villain role is Mads Mikkelson, who is best known for his role of Le Chiffre in the bond film Casino Royale. Along his career he’s had supporting roles in various films including Tristram in King Arthur (2004), Draco in Clash of the Titans (2010) and Rochefort in last year’s The Three Musketeers.
No role has been named for the actor as of yet and Marvel has thus far declined to comment on this news. However, despite the casting of another villain, Tom Hiddleston’s Loki still figures to play a big role in the upcoming sequel that is tentatively scheduled for a November 15th, 2013 release.
Production is set to begin later this summer with most of the major cast returning for the sequel.
I really like this casting choice of Mads Mikkelson. He’s one of those character actors that I’ve come to really like from what I’ve seen, and it’s just a shame that outside of Casino Royale he hasn’t done anything too great. I really see him as a kind of Liam Neeson type of actor that can play a bad ass, but still have the chops to be a really good actor. Hopefully he’ll be able to take full advantage of his role in Thor 2.
I’m also looking forward to seeing more Lady Sif and the Warriors Three in the upcoming sequel. I really enjoyed what they brought to Thor and I personally want to see them get more screen time in the upcoming sequel.
