Once again Misao’s extreme need to do good turns everything to shit.

——

The battle between Shou and Kyou finally comes to its climax within this chapter, and of course all of the problems could have been avoided if Misao was less nice.  She gives Shou her blood of her own accord and allows him to murder the other clans and fight with Kyou.  The battle is very intense, and we are left with a huge cliffhanger as someone’s severed limb lays on the ground.

I was pretty frustrated with this chapter because it always seems that everyone is fighting over Misao and she uses her huge amount of power to do stupid things.  I find her attachment to Shou pretty unrealistic because it is founded on him possibly being nice to her as a child and him wanting to finish some business before dying.  Did you forget that Shou tried to kill and rape you several times, Misao?  Did you not consider that his unfinished business could be to kill his brother, your boyfriend?  No?  Ok, then go ahead and give him your blood.

Though I was pretty frustrated with the excessive amount of guilt and fainting Misao did in this chapter, I was pretty impressed with the battle scene between Kyou and Shou.  It was awfully cool looking when they flew at each other and swung their swords and I was impressed with the art in this section (despite the annoying distraction of Misao crying in shame like an idiot in the corner).

I am looking forward to the resolution of this plot and how things will work out between the brothers and Misao.  I still have my fingers crossed that she will mature at some point and quit trusting every Tengu that winks at her, but we’ll see.  I also look forward to finding out whether Shou ever loved Misao or whether he had some sort of infatuation with her.  Here’s hoping the Kyou is at least a little pissed at Misao if his arm is the one on the ground.
