FanimeCon 2012: Day 2 Recap

Back for more! More anime, more cosplay, more awesome in our Day 2 coverage of FanimeCon 2012!

Take a look at our take on the behemoth that is Day 2.

——

Day 2 is a completely different beast than Day 1. There were two things that we had forgotten about when it comes to conventions: 1) Pace yourself because Day 1 will tire you out and 2) Saturday always means more people. The attendance on Saturday was incredible, and it was enough to make anybody feel claustrophobic and maybe a little nauseous. But we persevered so that you could enjoy the fruits of our labors.

I got a late start on Saturday but Mike was there bright and early to attend the Homestuck: MS Paint Adventure fan panel. From what he reported, they were a lively bunch even for an early morning panel. One thing about the Homestuck community is that they are very passionate about their fandom.

After that, we went attended the Aniplex and VIZ Media industry panels. Our reports of both panels will be published right after. Lots of news came out of those panels so be sure to check them out.

Afterwards, we decided to check out the Shonen Jump Alpha Fan Meet-Up and found out VIZ’s love of giving stuff away is as strong as ever. This year they went all out with the prizes, from huge wall scrolls to body pillows to DVDs and Blu-rays. As anyone who has worked with VIZ will tell you, they are not shy about giving out generous prizes. Our advice: if you ever go to a convention where VIZ is holding a panel, it’s in your best interest to go if nothing else than for the killer prizes. Worst case scenario is you end up having a ball goofing off with VIZ staff and that’s not exactly a bad thing.

We decided to end Day 2 early, but the convention center was still packed with people by the time we left. Check out Day 2’s photos at our Facebook page. While you’re there, hit the like button and share us with your friends!

More FanimeCon coverage coming your way all day and weekend long, so check them out!
