Manga Review: Bleach - 493

Team Allon is out for the count.

——

Allon could not stand up to Kirge’s impressive moves and powers. This wasn’t something that should have been surprising.  It wouldn’t have made sense for the enemy whom Captain Commander Yamamoto defeated in the past to be able to retaliate against Kirge, whom is most likely weaker than Captain Commander. Allon already suffered a terrible blow last chapter, so in this chapter, unless he received some power-up from the Tres Bestia, he was guaranteed to lose.

Kirge’s counterattack utilized another new Quincy technique, Sklaverei, which allowed him to absorb the spirit particles of Allon, causing his immediate disintegration. It also appeared that this move powered Kirge up augmenting his current form. In a realm made of Spirit Particles, this move seemed to completely nullify any effects that any inhabitant of Heuco Mundo could affect Kirge with.

That seemed to serve as a major issue for Tres Bestia. I enjoyed the way Kubo handled getting them to, instead of trying to attack, save Inoue and Chad, whose powers were also being sucked into Kirge. They attempted to entrust their hope into these protagonists and Kurosaki as they were the only ones present whom could stop Kirge.

Overall, it was a decent chapter. Everything played out as expected to get Ichigo to be the savior of the day. The new Quincy skill was shocking; however, I would have rather it affected Kirge’s appearance in a different manner. I do not think his design looks compelling at all. His base character model looked cool and unique for Kubo, but the way it is current, in this powered up form, seems standard, as if it’s attempting to challenge the design for Hollows.
