Manga Review: Fairy Tail - 285

Fairy Tail Girl Power for the win!

——

Erza blew our minds by defeating 100 of the creatures in Pandemium in a few minutes. Fairy Tail was happy while every other guild was shocked and amazed. With Fairy Tail taking first, the other teams needed an opportunity to be ranked. This was an excellent method for Mashima to use to give limelight to the characters in other guilds as well as characters in Fairy Tail, who usually receive less attention.

The chapter was flashy with its showcasing of attacks from various characters of the guilds. Some guilds served in a joke type role in which they scored low on the magic gauge, generating chuckles and laughs for those like Hibiki. (While other characters like Jura blew us away with scores in the thousands.) This presented an alarming situation for Fairy Tail B. The member they had participating wasn’t someone known for having a large aptitude. Even worse, when faced against someone like Jura, who is strong enough to face and challenge the magical mastermind, Jellal, at an even level, she stood no chance… or did she?

Shockingly, Fairy Glitter made a return back in our lives, except it was one arc too late. It looked impressive and landed Fairy Tail B a nice seat for second place. Fairy Tail was truly in it to win it now and may just overtake Raventail and Sabertooth in these games.

The next chapter indicates that we may be back to fighting. The only thing of concern is that Raventail may try to use some sort of trick again so Laxus may have to be cautious. The Celestial Spirit Mage arc is also continuing on as well so we need to stay tuned to see how that plays out. This arc has many plot threads so it has been nice to see Mashima expand from just one focus and go into at least three. Good job!
