Disney Renews “Ultimate Spider-Man”

Following the cancellation of The Avengers: Earth’s Mightest Heroes and it’s upcoming replacement known as Avengers Assemble, Disney announced their plans to renew Ultimate Spider-Man for another season.

So just how well has season one done? Find out after the break.

Despite whatever criticisms the show has been hit with, Disney said that Ultimate Spider-Man has performed well during its Sunday morning time slot on Disney XD.  There was a apparently a 151 percent rise in their boys age 2-11 demographic, 131 percent raise with boys age 6-11, and 135 percent raise with boys age 6-14.

So in other words, the show is definitely hitting its target demographic, enough to warrant a second season.

“The Disney XD audience has connected with Spider-Man and his super-powered friends as they face challenges in school and with their S.H.I.E.L.D. training,” said Disney XD VP and General Manager David Levine about the news. “As the anchor of our Marvel Universe block, ‘Ultimate Spider-Man’ season two will be back with more humor, villains and adventurous storylines that boys (and girls) will love.”

Season two will also feature more heroes and villains in the Marvel universe that haven’t yet made their small-screen debut. In the meanwhile, you can catch Wolverine in this week’s upcoming episode.
