Manga Review: KHR Target - 388

A cool cover for a chapter without a fight. Oh, Akira Amano.
——
The skirmish that was featured was actually nice. Jager was pretty intense and tough for Tsuna, and was an opponent whom Reborn actually seemed to be distressed over. Reborn even flat out told Tsuna that he couldn’t win. Bermuda realized this as well and decided to let them go. It wouldn’t have been wise to be the one’s needed to be allied with in order to take out Checkerface-sama.

Mental stress and drama characterized the rest of the chapter. Reborn seemed concerned for Tsuna and gave him a seal of approval over the matters and his progress in this war. Because he knew his fate would lead to death in either outcome for the battle, it seemed he did not want to get Tsuna involved. This was kind of emotional for me, as we’ve been with Reborn for over 387 chapters and now he is in a situation in which he could pass away. How could we deal with seeing Tsuna and the others depressed and distressed over the loss of their Vongola tutor and advisor?

What could Tsuna do in this situation? If they win then Reborn dies or permanently becomes Vindice, and if they lose he ends up meeting death. Could he wash his hands of the situation? Not possible, as Tsuna showed much concern this entire arc over Reborn, chasing him through the wormhole, trying to understand him, and even helping him as the watch holder on his team. This really got to be quite an emotional situation Amano has crafted for the series.
A good chapter with nice action and nice drama.
