Anime Review: Hyouka - 8

I’m starting to root for Houtarou to start saying no. It’ll make my life easier too.

——

Okay, I didn’t mean to make it sound like it’s a chore but after the sixth, seventh and eighth time, anyone would get tired of seeing someone get forced into doing something he or she really doesn’t want to get involved with.

Back to Hyouka — wow. I did not sign up to watch a cruddy movie production that not only had bad acting but an inconclusive mystery. On top of that, the mystery of the sick script writer added to the mix of what-the-heckery and it honestly really irked me. Since when did the classics club turn into the detective/mystery club? (There was a nice shout out to the light music club though, heh.)

I didn’t particularly enjoy the exchange between Fuyumi (Yukana) and Houtarou because it really went nowhere. Aside from some chatter from Satoshi, there really wasn’t much to think about because the actual mystery itself lacked any evidence to make any guesses.

You know who the culprit is? It’s either Eru or Satoshi, and Mayaka has a bad alibi. Really, and I’m trying not to sound annoyed, but what is it with butting into other people’s business? I think if it doesn’t involve other people directly, I’d be fine with digging deep into cracking the cause or discovering the actual effect but when there is a lot at stake, I’d rather not randomly decide to get curious and be the hero of the day. Does that make sense?

Though, I do have to say these minor characters bring back some familiar seiyuu for my ears’ pleasure, but even that much isn’t enough to favor this new mini-arc.

It really depends on how it all wraps up. Obviously I wanted something more but like the mystery film project itself, the tale is only partially complete. I can’t really see the mystery behind a sick person but if there is a conclusion that can satisfy me, then I’ll be the first to say that I was being hasty. Usually I’m not like this but it did bother me when Mayaka continued to casually jab at Houtarou to use his head. I’m sorry, but who has been solving all these cases so far? And this doesn’t mean Eru and Satoshi, and even Houtarou himself, get off scot-free.

Hey, I just met you. Your hair is crazy. But here’s my number. So, call me maybe?
