Manga Review: Fairy Tail - 287

Making up for a series of losses throughout the duration of Fairy Tail, Laxus finally delivered!

——

The chapter was honestly pretty amazing. The family theme, running throughout Fairy Tail, showed up in a new way in this chapter. Laxus associated himself more so with Fairy Tail than his own biological father. This shouldn’t have been surprising with the way he treated him in the past. In fact, he almost deserved it since he carried out such terrible acts against Laxus and even against the guild in this arc. How dare he cheat Fairy Tail!

Raven Tail was after Lumen Histoire, the secret that Makarov revealed close to the start of the arc, in which some unnamed secret is contained. What was down here? Mashima didn’t explain but it seemed more compelling than just a room with shiny paneling. Mavis’s expression only added to the intrigue of this room as well as the past history of Fairy Tail. Hopefully some event will uncover the secret of Fairy Tail soon.

Laxus’s destruction of Raven Tail was epic. Possibly it was the best part of the arc thus far, for through his fight, he not only took down the guild leader, but other strong foes that previous Fairy Tail members couldn’t defeat. It was marvelous.

Overall, it was a great chapter for Fairy Tail B. Fairy Tail A had been getting all the screentime, but B did too. Wendy for A would be in the next chapter, and as long as Mashima keeps the action intense and focused on more than just these cute kid characters, then it may very well be a good fight.
