With the second season around the corner, now is the time to cash in on the popularity of adorable robot anime Rinne no Lagrange, and who better to build the sleek Vox robots than Revoltech? I don’t personally own any robot figures, but the gorgeous design of the Vox has me absolutely entranced.
Did Revoltech do them justice?
Naturally, the Vox Aura who gets the Revoltech treatment first is Midori, piloted by the heroine of the anime Madoka. The design of the robots in the anime was so spectacular, but complex enough that I figured there would be no figure made of the robots themselves; just the cute girls who pilot them. I was pleasantly surprised to see a gorgeous rendition of Midori, perfect from the tips of her fingers to the wheels on her feet.
My favorite thing about this figure is the attention to detail; there’s no corners cut on the curves, the translucent pink on the “wings”, the concave details on her legs and arms. It would have been easy to just paint the circular details on her body, but to take the time to hollow them out absolutely tickles me pink.
Not only that, she is designed to be collapsable in to her ship form. I’m unsure how easy it will be to fold her up and back out again, but the figures I have from Revoltech have easy and smooth moving joints, so I’d think that once you figure it out for the first time, it’ll be easy to repeat. Too bad the instructions probably won’t be in English.
I’m not sure if I want to commit to a robot figure since they aren’t usually up my alley, but at 40 USD, Midori is a steal, and surely to be a gem in any Rinne no Lagrange fan’s collection.
