I never wanted to be a Baker anyways… I wanted to be a Lumbe- I mean, Swordsman.

I don’t know if it’s just poor writing or what, but the exposition in this anime seems as though it’s geared toward the slowest of the slow. Several episodes, we understood that many people were from another world and that these creatures attacking were after Kaguya’s necklace. However, they had to make sure we were keeping up and explained that all over again. They really must think we are as slow as the plot progression and need constant hand holding to follow their ”complex” storytelling process. If anything, it’s annoying me almost as much as the overuse of flashbacks from previous episodes.

So, here we have it, the lead up to the final conflict. Everyone is getting in on the act… oh wait, not everyone since we haven’t seen a few characters since their introductions, despite them popping up in the intro. Whatever, doesn’t change the fact that Rick has finally decided on who he is, and now he’s off to rescue the princess. Finally.

We all saw all of this coming a million miles away and now that we’re here, it’s kind of hard to feel excited or really care much at all about how things turn out. We know how it’ll turn out, especially given the way things have gone hitherto. Everything will work out, the bad guys will be defeated, and then it’ll be back to baking bread. Because, as we now know, bread is the answer. I’m just not even sure what the question was at this point.
