According to Variety, the next Batman game from Rocksteady Studios, responsible for the hugely successful Arkham City and Arkham Asylum, will be set in the 1950s Silver Age of DC’s series. Apparently, the new game will focus on the Dark Knight’s first encounters with the Joker, but the Silver Age of the comics did see Batman and Superman team up to form the Justice League of America.

This is reportedly all part of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment’s bigger plan of teaming up their stables of heroes, which would get wider audiences used to seeing their superheroes outside of, strictly, movies (and comics) and help Warner Bros. cash-in off the success of The Avengers.

The untitled game has a targeted 2014 release date.
