We have to get back to the future!

Okay, so, if you’re all still with me and your heads didn’t explode, then I think we can piece it all together. Having gone back and looked over things from the previous series, I remembered what Eureka is and what the Coralians are in general. Given what they are and their relation to the Scab Coral (sticking with that spelling as it ties into everything), then what is happening now makes perfect sense. For those of you not up to speed, we are seeing one of many worlds that is bridged by the Coaralians. So, while Eureka definitely did do some time travel, she also did some dimensional shifting as well. This still doesn’t quite explain Truth, though. Were he a Coralian like Eureka, he’d have eyes like hers. Perhaps he is a different type, or maybe a being that got pulled through a dimensional rift like Eureka. He seems to have some kind of connection with the Secrets, and perhaps is akin to them in the same way Eureka is with the Scab Coral.

So, now that everything is all patched up (and if it’s not, re-watch the first series), we can get into the the meat and potatoes of the episode and not worry about further head explosions. First and foremost, I want to touch on just how eerie it is seeing Gekkostate in its current condition. That feeling is driven home further by the absence of everyone else, leaving the ship a hollow shell of its former self to the Nth degree. It’s a shame that, so far, there doesn’t seem to be anyone else or any other connections between these worlds. As much as I would like for that to happen, or even the Gekkostate being patched up and put into use, I know there is just too much other stuff going on.

Speaking of other stuff, we still have Truth’s plans to understand and figure out, and he still shows no sign of showing any of his cards. While I’m all for mysterious characters with all kinds of crazy power, I tend to have a little more explanation surrounding them than what we have been given. For someone like me who hasn’t seen the original in years, much of what is happening came at me from angles I forgot existed. I doubt I’m alone when saying a little refresher course before all of this stuff happened would have been nice.

Every time that I think this current series is building up to a point, something else gets tacked on to escalate things further. Currently, it is a very elaborate and twisting palace of cards build atop a rather sturdy base of cards from the first series. At any moment, though, something has to give and we are going to experience an epic and possibly beautiful mess. I just hope that everyone that is invested in the series, at that point, will truly be able to understand and appreciate all that happens.
