Games of the Week: Board Meeting

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD (360): Beginning Xbox Live’s Summer of Arcade promotion is the remake of the first two games that started the extreme sports craze of gaming.

Select stages from the two games have been given an HD facelift and have been stripped down to the bare minimum game mechanics, like vert and street tricks, grinds, and manuals. The game will also receive DLC in the form of the series’ third game shortly after release.

——

Dyad (PS3): Every game has enemies to avoid or fight, but Dyad is a little different from every game because each enemy is your key to success. Playing as a particle, gamers will be flying through a tube and “latching” onto enemies to increase speed and keep going. Classified as a racing game, Dyad will introduce new enemy polarities to keep players on their toes. This is really one of those games you have to see to understand.

Heroes of Ruin (3DS): Square-Enix’s handheld answer for gamers that are starved for dungeon-crawling and loot-hunting. Taking cues from highly successful games of the genre, Heroes of Ruin features multiple playable classes, four player online or local coop, and lots of loot.
