Anime Review: Tari Tari - 3

“I don’t money!”

——

Exciting news: there’s more international flavor in this anime. As if Wien wasn’t hilarious enough with those bunny hops, a random Spanish dude decided to prey on Wakana with his pet pig. And you know what, Wakana is una chica bonita, but I found it funny nevertheless how she thought he was asking for money. It’s hard to communicate when a language barrier (or two) separates two people, but it’s even worse when money is somehow involved. I hope she knows that he’s not trying to be a macho creepster, but that’s probably why that misunderstanding was a little too entertaining to watch, and why I enjoyed hearing Wakana gasp at the sight of him patrolling. Yes, I am a sick, sick man.

Legitimate concerns of both Konatsu’s club and Taichi’s club were finally addressed, and of course that meant that the uptight vice principal was involved. The obvious answer was to somehow merge, but I didn’t think the two agendas would come together so nonchalantly under the injured principal’s signature of approval. This happened only after the girls played a friendly game of badminton against the boys and beat them at their own game… using handicapped house rules. But that’s when friendship shone the most as Konatsu got creative with the merger idea. It would be even more creative if they sang while spiking badminton birdies at high speeds. (Kinda like that Go-Soccer club in Nichijou, remember that?)

As far as character development goes, there was too much in one episode for me to break it down. Seeing a lot more of Taichi explained his passion and goal with badminton as a profession, and getting a crack at Wien showed a more innocent side to him that I was a bit surprised to see. Kontasu was probably most grounded with her usual dilemma (and bath scene role reversal) so nothing particularly special was introduced until her final two scenes. Sawa and Wakana seemed to have gotten much closer to one another, but I would like to see what the latter is really hiding regarding her mother’s influence on the people around her. That to me spells a deep story right there.

As for that impromptu audition, I did feel a bit awkward until the background clamor made it upbeat. Seeing that the pig was there, no doubt that they are friends of Wakana’s stalker dude. This summer event could get pretty interesting at this rate.

GO Rating: 3/5

Now Sawa’s just showing off.  Her awesome waitressing skills, that is.
