Comic Review: I, Vampire #11

[via]

Vampires vs Zombies! It’s probably everything you’ve been waiting for since issue #1! Well, maybe not, but it’s still awesome and well worth the price of admission. So how do Andrew Bennett and his group of miscreants deal with the threat of the undead Van Helsing family? Read on for my review!

——

Honestly, this is the most effectively action packed issue this series has had to date. And that’s saying something. There are explosions galore, zombies being mutilated, and Andrew Bennett shows that he’s a man without mercy when it comes between him and those he cares about.

Fialkov highlights the issue by showing how gruesome of a tale he can write. Andrew’s tearing apart and reassembling of an undead Van Helsing is prime example of that. As far as story goes there’s just a couple of flips and flops that bring it back basically to the same place that we started, just with a larger threat looming over Andrew and those who still stand with him for the next issue.

There really isn’t much more to say here as the issue read incredibly fast. It’s pretty much all monstrous action throughout, but it’s freaking awesome and it’s further reminding me of the manga series Hellsing. Andrea Sorrentino continues to display his ability to illustrate these horrific scenes in grand fashion, and the book is better for it. Those who clamor for action such as this should really be buying this series, but the issue is that I doubt they’d head to something from the DCU expecting to find what they’re looking for.
