Manga Review: Black Bird - 54

I guess too much sex can be a bad thing.

This chapter slowed down considerably after the last arc. Misao is being tutored by Kyou for her midterms and they discuss Shou’s death and the prophecy of Misao’s death if she keeps sleeping with Kyou. Kyou decides to look into possible solutions and Misao continues on her school day. It seems many of the boys in the school have been finding Misao more attractive lately because of the changes she underwent by dating Kyou. Misao finds out that her scent has become stronger and is worried that it might signal her death, but Kyou tells her that it has been doing this every time they get close physically. The chapter ends with Misao heading to the summer festival and sensing an invisible spirit near her.
This chapter was a little bit boring because nothing much happened. It was mostly the aftermath of the Shou crisis, which is apparently healed by an excessive amount of sex (but hey, this is how Kyou and Misao solve most of their problems, isn’t it?). There may be some interesting plot involving Misao’s increasing attractiveness to her classmates, but I am much more interested in her helping of the baseball player with his wound. This was some nice development for Misao who lacks much of a personality most of the time. This act signals a kind and helpful nature becoming more prominent.

I’m not exactly sure where this plot is going for now, but it likely has something to do with finding out what happened to the previous Senka. There are plenty of options that Kyou suggested, including both he and Misao turning into monsters so that could make for something interesting. The most exciting part of the whole chapter was the mysterious spirit that attacked Misao and hopefully that leads the arc into a more interesting direction. I really don’t want to have to read through a bunch of chapters about how much these two like sleeping together again. I get it guys, I get it.

I’m looking forward to the next chapter if only for some more excitement. This one had a few cute moments, but this manga as a whole can get slow at times and I don’t want that to happen again. Hopefully someone turns into a monster pretty soon.

GO Rating: 2/5
