20th Century Fox has confirmed that the teased sequel to Ridley Scott’s Prometheus has been put in motion. Indeed, stars Michael Fassbender and Noomi Rapace have already been signed up for the follow-up, which can be expected to hit theaters some time in 2014 or 2015.

Prometheus co-writer Damon Lindelof may not be involved in the sequel due to issues over his availability, which has prompted the studio to begin to talk to other potential screenwriters.
The possibility for a sequel to Prometheus was something which was teased even before the film’s release, with Lindelof suggesting that the film would serve as the origin point to two spin-offs, with the screenwriter saying back in June that:
“…This movie (Prometheus) has two children: One of these children grows up to be Alien, but the other child is going to grow up, and God knows what happens to them. And that’s what the sequel to Prometheus would be.”
With Prometheus answering a few longstanding questions, in exchange for giving us plenty more questions to mull over upon leaving the theater, I’d definitely be up for a sequel.
