“Expendables 3” Looks To Get Even Bigger

[via]

The Expendables 2 has yet to hit theaters, but with all the marketing and the big names attached it’s predicted that the movie will be a huge hit despite being an August release.

With that in mind, if you thought part 2 had enough names, you thought wrong, as a part 3 is already being planned with even more names on the producer’s wishlist.

Hit the break to find out who.

Executive producer Avi Lerner recently sat down with TotalFilm to discuss plans that they have for an upcoming part 3—barring any financial disasters that may pop, although unlikely. One name that is attached to the project and appears to be confirmed is Nicholas Cage. That’s right, folks, it was only a matter of time before they would come knocking on his door and he seems set to join the series. Also, there are plans for Mickey Rourke, who played a small role in The Expendables, to return, and though it’s a possibility and they would love to have him return, nothing is set in stone for him.

As for actors on Lerner’s wishlist, they include some big names starting off with Clint Eastwood, the timeless bad ass. I would love to see Eastwood join the cast, especially knowing that he has gone back into acting and is set to star in a film later this year.

Next up on his list is Harrison Ford. Mr. Jack Ryan, Han Solo and Indiana Jones himself is being looked at to join part 3 in this mash-up of action stars. I’d be interested in seeing if they make him a whip wielding hero if he does join the cast.

Finally, the last actor on Lerner’s wishlist is Wesley Snipes. This would be after he is released from prison, and I’m pretty sure he’d love to team up with Stallone once again. Now for those who don’t know, Snipes was one actor Stallone was looking to add to 2010’s The Expendables along with JCVD but eventually backed out. His role was eventually given to Forest Whittaker, but poor fan reaction caused another casting change to current star Terry Crews.

Now with a part 3 in the planning stages, it would be fitting to see him join the cast and possibly the likes of Kurt Russell, Val Kilmer and Steven Seagal.
