It’s been a while since some news about Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy project came out, and now it seems as if Marvel has zeroed in on their top choice to direct the Phase 2 project. That director would be James Gunn.
Hit the break for full details.
Best known for his low budget indie films, Super and Slither, James Gunn marks yet another unorthodox choice by Marvel in their selection of directors following the likes of Jon Favreau, Kenneth Branagh and Joss Whedon, among others. It’s said that the appeal of James Gunn as director for the Guardians of the Galaxy film is due to his ability to mix up action, humor and horror in very much the same vein as Joss Whedon.
Though Marvel has Gunn as their top choice, no deal has been made yet as they are still in negotiations. Here’s hoping that Gunn signs on and is able to do something really great with Guardians of the Galaxy, one of two original films slated for Marvel’s Phase 2 along with Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man.
