Deadline reports that actor Jim Carrey is being lined up by Universal Pictures for a role in the Jeff Wadlow-directed sequel of Kick-Ass, the charmingly titled Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall.

The character Carrey is reportedly being offered is Colonel Stars, an ex-Mafia member turned vigilante, who forms the superhero team Justice Forever with his brother, Lieutenant Stripes. Kick-Ass soon joins the team, in face of a threat from the villainous ‘Motherfucker’, Red Mist’s new codename, as he assembles his own team to enact his revenge on Kick-Ass.

Deadline notes that the proposed deal to bring Carrey in to play Colonel Stars is from being completed, however, with it being at the moment more of a “great idea” than a “sure thing”.

Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall is currently scheduled for a June 28, 2013 release.
