According to UK daily tabloid The Sun, Johnny Depp will be receiving the biggest payday in history to appear in a fifth Pirates of the Caribbean film.

The reported salary is rumored to be 60 million pounds, or roughly 95 million American dollars. It does not indicate if this is up-front money or back-end and incentive-based, but either way, holy crap!
Depp gets a lifetime pass from me. He worked at such a high level for so many years in outstanding pictures like Donnie Brasco, Ed Wood, and Dead Man, with very little acclaim or fame, that he can make as many of these things as he wants as far as I’m concerned. I do think he and his hetero-lifemate Tim Burton need to take some time apart, but other than that, he can do whatever he wants and not lose an ounce of integrity or be considered a sell-out. Good on him!
