Family history revelation and Misaki’s resolve.

——

In this chapter Gerard tries to distract Usui from his grandfather by taking him shopping and keeping him in his room. Gerard takes Usui’s phone hostage in order to keep him under control. Back in Japan, Misaki worries over Usui’s situation and his lack of texts to her. Both President Igarashi and her teacher tell her that Usui’s world is very distant from hers and that she will have to greatly impress them with intelligence and status if they want to be together. Misaki becomes determined to go to Britain and help Usui, and the only way is to ask Igarashi for help. She promises to convince Usui to stay with the family and secure Igarashi’s financial interests in exchange for his help. She is prepped by a team from the academy to become more than just a pawn in Britain. At the end of the chapter we discover that Usui’s mysterious father was actually a Japanese man who worked in the castle.

This chapter was full of decisive moments and I really liked that. Misaki escaped simply waiting for Usui, which makes a lot of sense as she is a very active girl. I hope that she can become an asset to him in Britain and not just a worry. Hopefully her promotion of Igarashi’s goals won’t mess with their relationship either. I was also shocked and interested to hear about Usui’s father, who we haven’t heard much about in the past. The story of his parents’ meeting will be interesting to hear in the future.

I am also excited by the involvement of the Academy students. It is nice to see them as allies instead of enemies for once. Although the president seems to be promoting his own interests, he actually acts as if he is helping Misaki out of curiosity, and I think that is interesting.  It is the closest to selfless he has ever gotten and it makes me really excited.  Perhaps Misaki and Usui have really grown on the President and he wants to observe them more.

I’m looking forward to Misaki going to Britain, as well as her becoming a real player in the situation. Gerard needs a swift kick to the head and Misaki is the right person to deliver it. He needs to know that she won’t be used as blackmail leverage and can actively help Usui. I also hope Usui realizes what he wants to do about his family soon after his new discoveries.
