Following the recent death of Neil Armstrong, the 1969 Moon Landing is probably fresh on most people’s minds.
Yet, what if the landing hadn’t been successful? What if Armstrong and Edwin ‘Buzz’ Aldrin had wound up stuck on the moon? It seems that the president actually had a speech ready just in case the circumstance would have occurred.

The speech was apparently written by former President Nixon’s speechwriter William Safire, and it’s actually kind of touching. Thankfully, there was no need for the speech.
