“Metal Gear” Movie Solidified?

[via]
It’s been years since the first word of a Metal Gear Hollywood film has been in the works, but the project has gone through its ups and downs. However, today’s announcement by Hideo Kojima in Tokyo during Metal Gear Solid’s anniversary event confirms that a Hollywood film is finally in the works.
Hit the break for full details.

With banners and slogans featuring “Metal Gear Solid Hollywood Movie” and Columbia Picture’s logo—an affiliate under Sony Pictures—on display, the project was the centerpiece of the anniversary event. Attached to produce the film is big name producer Avi Arad (The Amazing Spider-Man) who was on hand during the event to speak of the project.
This isn’t the first video game adaptation that Avi Arad has been attached to, as he’s also been attached to film adaptations of the hit Uncharted and Mass Effect video game franchises. And though none of those projects has gotten off the ground yet, Arad’s track record of bringing comic book films to the silver screen should be promising for fans.
