“Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII” Announced By Square Enix

Officially unveiled today at PAX Prime during Square Enix’s private Final Fantasy 25th Anniversary party, Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII will be the last installment in the current trilogy of the popular role-playing game franchise.

A member of the Square Enix development team appeared in a pre-recorded video to announce the game while Amritz Lay, Senior Project Manager at Square Enix, came out live onstage to talk about a few details of the upcoming game. As you can see in the video above, the slide show reveals some gameplay details, such as Lightning’s customization and free movement during combat, and new concept art from the enemy design and environment.

Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII will be released for PS3 and 360 in 2013.
