Manga Review: Skip Beat! - 192

Well isn’t that foreboding.
——
The chapter begins with a guilty Kyoko worrying over at Ren’s clear anger over her being in the car with Sho. She worries about what he will say, especially when they have to become the Heel siblings again. We then see a conversation between Ren and Yashiro in which the manager indicates that he can see the “real” Ren in his sad eyes at certain times. Ren believes that this means his old self is coming out more and he decides that he can control things on his own. It is also indicated that he and Sho spoke to each other, but Ren didn’t want to talk about it. The chapter ends with Ren and Kyoko preparing to act their roles as the Heel siblings once again.
This chapter was a lot like the last couple of chapters. Plenty of introspection and foreshadowing, very little plot movement. I am getting a bit frustrated with having literally nothing happen in these chapters. The cover pages seem to indicate some sort of epic ending or showdown, but I have no idea when we’re actually going to arrive at such a decisive moment. It may take a while since it apparently takes a whole chapter to establish that Ren is mad at Kyoko and is having trouble with Cain Heel (something we have known for a long while may I remind you). I’m just getting a bit tired of the plot running in circles.

I’m hoping that the next chapter can get the plot rolling again, or at least give us a hint as to what the “big bad ending” is supposed to be. I would like to know if this manga is wrapping up or just heading to a big plot point. I also would like people to actually TALK to each other instead of doing a constant inner monologue. This manga is one of my favorites, but the plot is dragged out like no other I have ever read. The pacing needs to pick up soon in order to keep me interested.

Let’s hope that there’s a real fight or something next month or I’m going to bang a rather large hole in the wall with my head. Action is key everyone!
