Both “The Avengers” And “The Dark Knight Rises” Pass Box-Office Milestones

According to figures released by The Hollywood Reporter, both The Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises have now crossed another couple of box-office milestones.
Hit the break for details.
——
First up, The Avengers managed to rake in another $1.7 million in the US over the weekend, thanks to returning to theaters for a limited time to help celebrate Labor Day. Indeed, the film has now firmly consolidated its place as the third-highest grossing film of all-time, with the film having passed $1.5 billion worldwide. To date, only Titanic and Avatar have crossed the $2 billion mark.
Let’s not forget The Dark Knight Rises, however, which has now passed the $1 billion mark, becoming the 13th film to do so. Notably, the film has grossed more internationally ($574 million) than in the US ($431.2 million), which some believe is in part due to the tragic Aurora theater shootings.
Still, I’m sure both studios will be happy with their respective financial hauls.
